The first part of that statement is "Quality". One of the best ways to insure quality and that your family and your children get quality care is to have board certified practitioners. Board Certified means that the Doctor or the Nurse Practitioner has passed the difficult state board exams,.......it means they are smart and have studied well.
All of our practitioners, Dr. Bernardez, (MD, FAAP), Evelyn Santiago (FNP-BC), and Chana Jacobson, (PNP-BC), our newest addition have all passed their board exams. Kristen Haight who sometimes helps us is also a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Kristen also has 20 years of experience!
The other part of our Motto is "Compassionate Care". It is with Compassion that Chana, Evelyn, and Dr. B want to treat your babies, your children and your families as if they were their own friends and family. We realize that for pediatric patients when they go to the doctors, the pediatricians office they have a certain amount of anxiety. No one likes going to the doctor. No one likes having a stranger "investigate" them. However they do want to feel better. It is with friendliness and compassion for the patient that helps them feel more comfortable, more trusting and able to better communicate what ails them. A good "bedside manner" is crucial in being able to communicate with children and making the entire doctors office visit more of an adventure for them than a traumatic experience makes children more likely to respect their overall health.
One of the reasons behind our new exam tables is to bring some fun and adventure into the office visit for your children. More exam tables and office furniture is on the way. As it is custom built it just takes some time to design, plan, and build.
"Personalized Care" to us at Orange Pediatric Care means that everyone is treated as an individual. When we are with you you are the only one. Your newborn or your 18 year old are both precious to us. This also extends to our staff and non-medical issues such as insurance, billing, and scheduling. We try to get you in for the appointment you need, with the practitioner you want. Whether it is in our Beacon office or in our New Windsor location we make every attempt to make your visit convenient
We never turn away a last minute sick visit and try to fit in convenient times when you need your school physicals, yearly physicals, camp physicals etc. Everything from an Asthma and Allergy check up to ...what starts with z?....well, you get the point.
........"That you and your family will know and trust"!
It is Dr. B's sincere wish that she gets to know each and every one of her patients and that they know and feel comfortable with all of the practitioners and staff at Orange Pediatric Care. We feel that you are like family.
One of the reasons that Dr. Bernardez wanted to have her own medical practice, instead of working for the "big groups" is she wanted to see the "continuity of care", that is, if she saw a patient and ordered a course of action, she wanted to be the one to follow up and see the patient again, so that she would know what she was doing made a difference, that she was helping people. When Dr. B worked for a big group patients were seen by the practitioner on schedule and often they would get lost in the shuffle forever seeing different doctors and having to re-explain the issue, the symptoms and their entire history was on a chart and not in the heart of the doctor.
